Bile contains bile acids, which are critical for digestion and absorption of fats and fat-soluble vitamins in the small intestine. Oxbile extract is prepared from the fresh bile of the ox. Widely used for replacement therapy in pathological conditions in which the concentration of bile acids in upper intestine is low for e.g. biliary fistula, disease of the ileum, hepatic or extra-hepatic cholestasis.
